2018 Was a Mostly Fun Year, the Year of the Dildent.

It started out in Daytona, where I attended my first race with Daender. It was an awesome experience, awesome enough that we are doing it again, but this time spending more time there.

From there, events wise nothing much happened until August, though I did attend several C&C’s. One notable thing happened, I lost my dog, that I had since I was 15.

It was tough, but then something happened, I found something that needed me just as much as I needed her. I got Scout.

Several medical expenses later, she is a healthy, happy, spoiled chunk.

Then in August, I met up with a few Oppos at the Tail of the Dragon, and had a blast(for the most part).

It was at the Dragon that I had the realization that the ST wasn’t the car I wanted in the first place, and that continuing to mod it wasn’t going to help the situation, only make it less reliable. At the end of August, I fixed that.

We are already at a bit of a rocky start, but defects happen at the factory, some things get by that shouldn’t. That being said, I still absolutely love this car. It almost feels like my dog is at the vet, I miss it badly. Hopefully 2019 will be smoother for it, but I’ve already put 6600 miles on it, with two 1000 mile trips down. I’ll start out 2019 with a return trip to Daytona (No Daender, I’m not cramming in the Miata for 6 hours.) Hopefully it’s fixed by then.

In September, I visited the Barber Motorsports museum. It. Is. Fantastic! Totally worth the trip to Birmingham(AL) for it, even if you aren’t super in to Motorcycles, the building is beautiful, and it’s on a race track. Plus, soon enough the Southern Museum of Flight will be right next door.

One more thing I did in 2018 that I’ve yet to post about, is my trip to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame. It’s pretty great, though I wouldn’t say it’s worth the trip to Talladega alone for it(Barber and this would be neat together).
